Computer does not register USB devices (have tried several). On device manager they appear but have an orange exclamation mark next to them. The computer says there are no drivers available. Have tried updating but the computer claims that there are no updates available. I have windows 8.1.
Any help would really be appreciated please!

Make sure you have the USB drivers installed for your motherboard. Windows update might update them, but it looks like you already tried that. Lookup your motherboard, and on the manufacturers website should be a page dedicated to drivers/documentation.

You haven't made it completely clear which drivers you are in need of. Drivers for the peripherals you are plugging in, or drivers for the USB ports on the system.

Either way, without drivers for the devices, what do you want Windows to do with them? Some devices may not have Windows 8.1 driver support, so you may need new hardware at that point. Lack of driver support is one method that hardware manufacturers use to ensure continued sales of their equipment.

Bigpinkdragon, the thing is I'm not sure which drivers I'm in need of. Both my external hard drive and iPod are not working as I cannot access them when they plug in.
