Is this a good build for modern games?

A friend of mine got in touch with a guy who works at Tigerdirect, and he offered to build me a gaming PC for $600. The specs seem impressive compared to what I was about to buy instead, but I was wondering if the specs are good enough to run games at good settings for the next few years.

Specs:
i5 3570k
Cooler Master hyper tx3
8gb Corsair Dominator GT 2133mhz
Corsair spec 01 w/ front intake and rear exhaust fans
His R9 280x iceq2
Gigabyte Z68Ap-d3 rev 1 SLI/Crossfire (also offered to swap it out with an Asrock Z75 for free in a month or so)
Seagate barracuda 1tb and Samsung 840 evo 120gb
Cooler Master silent pro m 700w 80+
Lg e2050t 1600x900 monitor

The games I'm planning to play are Shadow of Mordor, BF4, Arma 3, GTA 5 and in the future MGS 5 and Fallout 4.

All the games you listed are pretty harsh on the graphics lol, as such you should expect medium-high settings for smooth gameplay. Except arma, apparently you need like a $3000 rig to run that smoothly.

Actually now that I see the 1600x900 resolution, you should be good to play on High settings for a while.

GTA 5 is pretty demanding game. I don't think you can run everything on ultra but defiantly mid to high settings since its not full 1080P HD. If you have the money upgrade processor to i7 and some better graphics card like GTX 970. Than you will be set!
