I am new to building PC's and I apologize for any simple mistakes or answers. (Please note I have already gone through the no POST checklist) Here is my build.
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 280x OC 3GB
Mobo: Gigabyte AM3+ AMD DDR3 1333 760G 78LMT-USB3
CPU: AMD FX-6300 FX-Series 6-Core Black Edition
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD SATA 6 Gb/s
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 80PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V/EPS12V Active PFC 600W

I put everything together outside of my case and when I turned it on, there was no beep and no light that came on. I think the beep is caused by the fact that I don't have a speaker on my front panel header but I do have an F-Audio cord so I am not sure. I have no idea why the light will not come on as I have ensured everything is plugged into the right spot. When I plugged the computer into the monitor nothing would show up. I had it plugged in only at the motherboard, not the GPU. Do I have a defective or shorted motherboard? All of the fans run smoothly and consistently so I don't believe it is my PSU. Thanks

Solution
No, it sounds like something isn't plugged in all they way. Remove everything unecessary from your setup, run only the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and PSU and see if it will post. Remove your RAM and reseat it, but use only one stick. If it boots, then start putting in the rest of your RAM and installing components.
