Hello today I got my second h77m mobo, the first one had a dead lan port. This one appears to have a broken or bent pin i believe. Ok so i connect everything to test it but when i power on the pc i get a black screen on the monitor. Will having not enough thermal paste on the cpu cause this, if not what could it be. Im dying to start playing
Here are my components
xeon 1230v2
asrock h77m
pny 16gb 1866
kingstone hyper x 120gb ssd
evga b2 750w

They booted up fine on the last mobo

Solution
The black screen is probably due to the bent pin you mentioned. A lack of thermal paste will not cause a black screen. Make sure your RAM is seated correctly and double check all power connectors CPU, M/B, Drives ect. If you have a bent socket pin, it will be that most likely.

You can't. If it arrived with bent pins out of the box you could try returning it to the manufacturer (RMA). But i think you may have a hard time getting a cost free replacement. They will probably charge you for a repair.

It did cross my mind but i didn't really want to suggest it, but you gave it a go and I'm glad it worked. Congrats! :D
