assuming its connected via USB then you need to find a set of USB 2 pin headers . Most likely along the bottom of the board .

Well, I am using an old MATX case that was a SATA2 system in it's previous life. Looking at all of the available new cases I decided to keep the one that I have. It has the multi card reader along with inputs for 2 X USB 2 plus headphone and mic jacks. As I am going to have spare USB 3 ports from the ASRock Z87M Extreme 4 motherboard, would it be OK to connect one of those the the multi card reader ?

The external sockets for the reader and USB ports are all moulded into the case, and like I say the old system was SATA2. I have decided to keep the case as it the most attractive I have been able to find, despite it being bought in 2009. It's black and white, one of the Fujitsu Amilo range.
