My friend gave me his really old desktop, it has windows xp, directx 9. I'm trying to find out what processor it has...i checked dxdiag, it only says Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2.50GHz.
i was looking online and found a few that were , all of which had different names not mentioned in the dxdiag report.
i also went to...somewhere...and went to the general tab, and it also said: Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2.50GHz, still refusing to tell me the actual name. Unless that is the name, but all the celeron processors i look at have a name like G(#)(#)(#)

Solution
There are several ways in which you can find out:

First look at the System tab in the controls panel and it should say what the cpu is
Second the device manager should also say what the cpu is under the processors
Third use a hardware monitoring tool like hwmonitor
