Hi everyone

My current laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C45 Series, Model ASP4206FL. It has an i3-2348m (Intel HD 3000 Graphics), 6GB of RAM (originally 4) and ran Windows 8. One day, I decided to try a program called "AVG TuneUp 2015" and everything was okay until the program decided to defrag the Hard Drive. After defragging the HDD, everything went downhill. The computer was super slow, and even after I tried reinstalling Windows 3 more times (with the performance of the drive being that terrible, windows sometimes stopped at certain points during the installation). It even refused to install Linux, in 3 kinds of different distros. However, I was unaware that the HDD was in fact an Hybrid Drive until I opened the laptop so, defragging it was a terrible error. And as the saying goes, Defragmentation lowers the life of SSD drives and or SSHD (Hybrid drives). I am currently writing this from my laptop booting a Linux live cd

Now, back to the question I've ordered an Samsung 850 EVO and it should arrive in a few days. My question is, should I install the video drivers on the manufacturer's (Toshiba) website or should I go with the generic Intel drivers that are up to date? The last time Toshiba updated those video drivers was in 2013, with a 302mb driver that was for both Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge C45 Laptops, in contrast to the "Generic" Intel ones that were last updated last month. So, with which one should I go with? Also, I know that Windows 8.1 drivers are compatible for Windows 10, but should I give it a try once it gets released? I like Windows 10 a lot and I've tried the Insider preview but it was in december and that was an early build. I had many problems with the WiFi driver there and Windows 10 was slower than 8 but since then, it has been updated.

Many thanks in advance

Install the drivers from intel, if you have problems with them then try the ones from Toshiba. It should be safe to upgrade to Windows 10, I tried the preview on my few years old laptop with Windows 7 (installed it as a upgrade) and it worked without problems. If you want to play safe wait atleast a few weeks before upgrading so they have time to fix any initial problems if there are any.
