Hey there, i recently bought an R9 380 4gb to replace my old gpu.

My Current setup is:

Mother board: GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB
PSU: Antec Basiq BP500U 500W

The problem is that the new gpu requires an 8-pin connection while my current psu only has a 1 x 6-pin connector.

Anyways my question is if i should save money and get a 6-Pin to 8-Pin PCI-E Adapter or just buy a new psu. Thx

Hi - Yes you can use a 6 to 8 pin pcie adapter. It comes down to available +12v rail(s)amps. A system with
a 650ti requires at least 20 +12v amps, you PSU has 29 +12v amps, more than sufficient for your

However, the r9 380 requires 28 +12v amps, so you are right at the limit. I personally would upgrade the
PSU being that close.
