Hi to all, I'm thinking in upgrade mi Graphic Card and I really dont know what its the limit that my computer can resist, so i made this thread because when I was searching for a good GPU I accidentaly enter here and really liked your answers, so I think you can help me. (Sorry for mistakes, not native english).

THE COMPUTER:

Motherboard: GA - H61M-S1
http://uy.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4127#ov

Processor: Inter Core i5 3330 (3.0 GHz)
http://ark.intel.com/es/products/65509/Intel-Core-i5-3330-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz

Memory: 8gb ddr3 - Dual channel (¿that mean it's 2 x 4gb?)
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 2500 (That bottleneck pls)
PSU: 500 W

To the point, my questions are:

1-¿ How I know the best graphic card I can put in it so I can have a upper budget limit when shopping?

2-¿ My computer will support a GTX 960 4gb gddr5?

3-¿ Its the GTX 960 a good inversion compared to the other components I have?

3-¿ If 2 is affirmative, the GTX 970 worth the almost 40% more price?

4-¿ If I fit a GTX970, it will overkill the pc? (I mean that the rest of the components will bottleneck the GPU, and i will not take advantage of it).

Really thanks for your time and please dont recommend me AMD, I dont want to buy a new PSU.

Solution
1) It will depend on the make/model of your 500W PSU. More exact, the nameplate ratings for the +12V rail.

2) Your motherboard and CPU will. Whether it will fit your case or not, I don't know. Most cases have no problem with the GTX 960 cards that are available.

3) Yes, very good.

3?) The difference in gaming between the GTX 960 and 970 is considerable. But whether or not it is worth the difference in cost is only you can decide.

4) There will be no CPU bottleneck with your i5-3330 and a GTX 970.

I really appreciate your help, probably now I wil go for the GTX 970 but if im runing out of money I will end with the GTX960.

Concerning to the PSU, I open the computer and take this info:

M-Logix ATX-500W
+3.3v -19a
+5v - 30a
+12v - 20a

I dont know to much about this area, but it appear to be generic and a extremely bad PSU for a decent card.

Yikes! If that single 20 amp +12V rail is all your PSU has, You can't even run the GTX 960 on it. It is definitely not a 500W PSU, not by accurate standards anyway. Most 300W 'cheap' PSUs have at least that many amps available on the +12V rail.

Yeah its only cost me about 10$ so change it, its a priority. There is some PSU you recommend me or aproximatly the "A" that it need to have in 12v rail? Thank You.

If you are not in the US, it would do me little good to recommend one from here. And I don't know your budget, anyway. But here are some links that can help you decide...

PSU hierarchy list: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html#xtor=EPR-8886
Try to stay in tier 1, 2, or 3.

Here is the recommended min. size PSU for the GTX 960 as per Nvidia (400W): http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-960/specifications
Here is the recommended min. size PSU for the GTX 970 as per Nvidia (500W): http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-970/specifications

GeForce GTX 970 - 28A
GeForce GTX 960 - 20A
The Amp(A) rating is for the +12V rail that the card is on. The rest of the PC will require at least that much as well.

Nope. The mods will close it when they see the solved indication and no more activity in the thread.
