Im wondering how can I test a CPU to evaluate its performance. Is there a windows based program that can be run that will "stress test" the CPU and/or the memory and give you feedback on the CPUs calculations.

I have an old intel processor and I don't think it is up to par with wear it should be and am wondering if it can have bad sectors like a hard drive.

Also is it possible to overclock a PC built by a mainstream manufacture who's motherboard does not have the features easily accessible for overclocking.

Okay, i'll grab Prime95 as I have also heard that recommended for stress testing when overclocking your GPU.

Yeah I have both a Pentium D 945 and a Pentium 4 3.4GHz both in Socket 775
