Hey guys, as seen in the title I'm having some issues with a new i7 4790K I installed yesterday along with a new mobo/ram/cooler. While idle the cores are usually ranging from 45°C to 50°C. While under medium load the temps range from 70°C to 85°C. While under heavy load they range from 80°C to 95°C.

CPU: i7 4790k clocked at 4GHz
Heatsink: Phanteks PH-TC14PE
Motherboard: MSI Z97 GAMING 5
Case: NZXT H440

Both CPU fans are usually running at 1300 RPM and I really just feel that my CPU temps shouldn't be this high. I was planning on overclocking this to 4.4 GHZ but not if it's going to always be near 100°C. Does anyone think they know what this might be happening?

Solution
yes if thats true then something is definitely wrong. Does your bios temps match whatever program you are seeing those temps with?

Make sure you have both fans blowing the the same direction, hopefully so its blowing hot air towards an exit fan.
Your case fans should be blowing in from the front sides and bottom, and blowing out from the rear and top.

Popatim, thanks for the answer. I actually forgot to remove the plastic coating that was sitting between the CPU and the Heatsink LOL... It hit me in the shower this morning. While I fixed this I also followed your suggestion and modified the air flow. I'm idling around 27C and during high load only hitting 50C. Thanks for the help.
