Intel Rapid storage failure after bios update (Drive showing as non raid member)

I have a gigabyte GA-X99-UD5 wifi mobo and I have/had 3 1TB HDs set up in a raid 5 array. I was using this with no issues prior to attempting a bios update. After the update I noticed my raid array wasn't being detected so I checked settings. I eventually rolled back to my previous bios and ensured all settings for the drives are correct. There aren't a whole lot of options to screw up.

This thread on the intel site is the exact problem
https://communities.intel.com/message/279068#279068

I see all 3 drives but 2 are showing as non raid members. My only option right now is to destroy the volume and start over. That is not a good option. I pulled the HD cables like the guy in the intel forum stated, which seemed ridiculous in the first place. Since only one of my 3 is detected, I can't do a recovery. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Did you check Sata Mode Options and make sure all the ports are enabled & hotplug disabled.
Then Sata Device Type and make sure they are set to harddrive?
I'm not even sure if these are available in raid mode but wortha look though I'm sure you already been there.

Do you recall if you previously built the raid in legacy mode or in UEFI mode?
UEFI mode needs win8 OS features set to win8 and CSM disabled.
After a reboot you can enter the intel uefi raid utility right from the bios> peripherals section and check the drives & setting there.

In legacy mode it would be win8 features off and CSM enabled and then you would reboot and press crtl -i when prompted.

Did you enter the bios and set the sata mode back to raid and make sure the drives are int he raid ports? some motherbds are able to exclude some ports from the array (like sata ports 5 & 6) so you can have a non-raid boot and optical drive running ahci instead.

Yes, that was the first thing I checked. The gigabyte bios doesn't have any options to exclude ports from the array. The intel raid bios handles all of that. Right now i'm beyond confused and frustrated as the Raid 5 array was the bulk of my storage
