So currently in my pc I have a 240gb kingston SSD. It was nearing capacity so I wanted to install a second hard drive. I ordered and received a Samsung 850 Evo 500gb SSD.

I thought it would be pretty easy installation, but I was of course wrong. I turned off my computer, unplugged all cables, and grounded myself. I plugged in a SATA cable to the mother board and into the ssd. Connected the power connect from the psu and closed up the case.

When i try to start the computer it turns on but doesn't boot. Just a read light on the mobo.

I took out the second SSD and tried to reboot normal and it wouldn't start. Finally pulled out the RAM and out it back in. This fixed the problem for the normal boot.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this second SSD in. It seems like the computer is trying to boot from it. Can anyone help me?

Specs.
CPU: Intel i7-4770k
Mobo: ASUS Z87-A
Graphics Card: SAPPHIRE DUAL-X 100364BF4L Radeon R9 270X
RAM: 16gb g-skill
PSU: 750 W

Well in that case it sounds like a power issue. I would suggest getting a larger psu if possible. Try having only the sata cable in (No power) if it works it a power issue, if it doesnt then is a motherboard issue.

If the sata cable is only in without power...how would the computer even recognize it?
