Corsair Vengeance Pro Kit (2x4) Running @ 1333Mhz?

Hello fellow members!
I have the above RAM memory and in the box it says it runs @ 1600 Mhz but I can only get 1333.
My Mobo is the MSi Z87M-G43, is this because of my mobo limitations or I have to move some sticks to make it run at a higher frequency? Also, i've place the memory sticks next to each other, leaving the next two slots empty; is this okay or should I place them differently?

You need to enable the XMP profile in your BIOS.

All memory will run at default 1333mhz to make sure you don't run into any issues, so in order to take advantage of the higher speed you need to manually enable it in the BIOS.

What mobo, CPU and the actual model # of the DRAM. Most mobos will want the sticks in slots 1-3 or 2-4 to allow for dual channel (up to a 10-15% performance gain)

For dual channel the memory needs to be in the blue slots or the black slots, installing 1 stick in blue and 1 in black it will run in single channel mode. To get them running at 1600 enable the xmp profile in bios.

+1 on making sure XMP is enabled, it normally is NOT set to XMP via default. I've run into that all the time.

Mobos initially boot DRAM to their (mobos) default which is generally 1333 (some mobos today still default to 1066) XMP is for DRAM 1600 and up to make set up easier

Thanks for the replies guys! I've changed the slots to 1-3 (Blue-Blue) and enabled XMP ands it's now working beautifully
