I currently have a Geforce GT 740.

My PC:
Manufacturer: Paradigit
Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-4460 cpu @ 3.20 GHz 3.20 GHz
RAM: 8.00GB
System Type: 64 bit OS, x64-based processor
Motherboard: MSI H97 PC Mate.

I am not at all knowledgeable in PC specs or setup but my question is, what would I need to allow the Titan X to function or would what I have be sufficient?

Solution
Oreo I have no idea why you would tell eamo to ask Nvidia.

I wouldn't suggest anyone to use a Titan X below a i7-4790k. Why? Because it makes no sense to have such an expensive GPU with a much lower-end CPU. (Although still a good GPU).

I don't know what PSU you have but odds are it isn't enough to power the Titan X. Is there any reason you would rather it over the 980 Ti? The 980 Ti will beat it in games due to it being able to reach a higher clock speed via GPU Boost.

Mostly Its a No.
Depends on Res and core utilization of the game but it is mostly a no but i recommend you get in touch with the nvidia support they usually know whether cpu[A] is capable of running a gpu[X] with/without bottlenecking it. Btw i don't know if i should mention this Psu a min of 600w since your psu is not mentioned

Along with a better PSU, you case must have sufficient cooling. I don't mean a 120mm intake and maybe a 80mm exhaust. The case better have atleast 2x 120mm intakes or 1x 140mm+ intake.

Thank you for your response MasterDell.

My only interest is in improving game experience and if the 980 Ti could offer that then I would definitely look into it. I assumed that the Titan X might be the ideal solution from some online articles I've read, but again my knowledge on these matters is very limited. Would I similarly need improved CPU and possibly PSU to support the 980 Ti?

Once again thank you for your response MasterDell.
I'm not sure what make and model my PSU is.

This is my PC, I don't know if it has the required information.

No problem :)
I don't suggest putting the Titan X in that computer at all. In all likely hood, there won't be enough clearance for it. It will likely hit a drive cage. If you want to enhance your gaming experience, go with the GTX 750 Ti, GTX 960, or GTX 970. But first, not matter what, you will need to change your PSU.

You are from Ireland I'm guessing? Can you list some online computer part stores in Ireland so that I can help you figure out what you need? :)

I am indeed from Ireland yes and I very much appreciate your assistance. :)

Some Irish stores:

Okay before I go looking in those stores, could you check how much graphics card space you have? You basically just measure from the left side of where the GT 740 to the point where something will obstruct the GPU. If you aren't sure, take a picture with the side panel off and then measure the length of the case. That will give me a good idea of what you need :)

I hope that makes sense!

It makes perfect sense and this help is much appreciated.
In my estimation, to the left of my current GPU there is just over 5.5 inches of space before an obstruction, that obstruction being wires.

MasterDell you have been a great help, thank you very much for all your assistance.
Those prices are also very reasonable I thought upgrading would be more expensive.

Thank you so much.
