Hi All

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I just wanted to know if anyone knows what this program is and what it does because I can't find any info about it.

It shows up in the startup items list as the Microsoft Bing Service by © 2015 Microsoft Corporation with file name BingSvc.exe, it is found in the folder: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\BingSvc
along with 3 other files BSvcProcessor.exe, BSvcUpdateConfig.cab and BSvcUpdater.exe
I have no idea what these are either.

So my question is what is this service for, is it legitimate or some kind of malware?

Thanks for any information you can give on this

Hi folks,

Thanks for the info.

Microsoft's bingService is on my windows xp without my asking. I think this is because i use Skype. See this post on g+.

From support.skype.com, I found out "The Bing Bar is installed automatically when you install Skype 5.8 for Windows desktop".

You can see the full details at my blog post "Uninstalling the Bing Bar, Surreptitiously Installed with Skype 5.8".

Thanks again for being a GREAT community.

Love and peace,

Joe

Hi Joe, thanks a lot for the info and helping me discover where these files came from. looking at the install dates on my system it seems you are probably right about it being Skype. I've always wondered how that service got there.

Thanks again,
Elliot
