Hello all, I have a 1tb WD My Passport Ultra and it worked well for the first year or so and then it suddenly stopped working. I tried reinstalling the SES drive (I believe that is where the problem lies), reformatting the drive, and I even changed the drive letter but had no success. It shows up in my computer as "Local Disk" but when I click on it nothing happens and it freezes my computer. It does show up properly in my devices but I can't access it there either. This happened about a month ago and I was able to fix it by updating the SES drive but it happened again randomly and I can't figure out how to fix it. I am a teacher and have all my work on this so I would appreciate it if anyone knows of a way to recover my files. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey there, JakeTanner.

Really sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your drive. I doubt that the SES driver has anything to do with that problem. I'd recommend that you try the HDD with a different USB cable (preferably shorter than 12") and a different computer, to see if the same thing happens again. Having in mind you want your data recovered, I'd suggest that you try to access the drive via Linux Live DVD/USB, in order to find out if the drive is properly recognized and if you can get to your files, or try some of the data recovery options from this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html. Ultimately, if none of this helps, I'm afraid you may have to try a professional solution...

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
