What a great feeling to be back! Into gaming, that is.

Alright, so my Core-2 Duo CPU and GTX 275 stopped being serious in gaming since 2012 or so, and barring a few exceptions, I've been out of the wagon since then. I'm asking you pro gamers to help me nail like 10 games for my new, monstrous build (GTX 980 Ti, et al.)

My favorite games ever are the Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and GTA franchises. I love open-world games, and also smart-ass ones like Stanley's parable and Sherlock Holmes.

I most often hate games in which there are monsters, zombies, and in general, extreme futuristic crap. Stuff like Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, Halo, Crysis, Fall Out and the like just ain't my thing.
Also (and this is probably weird for you), I don't like FPS! Call of Duty, Battlefield and its imitators don't interest me.

Could some all-round gamers help me find the best titles from 2013 onwards? I mean, like games that I'd be a loser if I didn't play them, the must-play ones!

Thank you.

It's not a question of if I have, it's a question of the hundreds of other members who have, especially on illicit Windows product keys. Not every seller will be a snake oil salesman, just like not every used car salesman is crooked. But enough are to warrant avoiding anything that looks too good to be true.

I would say you have to play Witcher 3 (involves monsters and such but the graphics are insane!!) , Grand Theft Auto 5, Outlast (Horror), Far Cry 4 (open World), BattleField 4 (FPS, sorry :D just a great game), Those are a few that I personally loved playing. They're gonna take you a while to finish! Witcher 3 is a insanely long game, takes ages but GTA 5 is very addictive especially with mods (PC Gamers love that!) Happy Gaming!!

I would suggest Minecraft, Terraria, Garry's Mod, and a few of the newly developed Indie games on Steam! A lot of new creators are making art out of video games and creating whole new genres to choose from! Soon enough, a lot of people will be playing games like "Open world virtual reality simulator" and "vr horror". Feel free to look at the latest Greenlit (accepted by the Steam community and critics) and newest added games to see what you might learn about your gaming tastes!

Welcome back to gaming you old fart !
I did a recent upgrade from a similar system to your old one,
but I'm only at 3.0 Quad with a 560 Ti SOC. Runs pretty good !
Obviously check out GTA V, and you may like the latest couple of Tomb Raiders.
For me, I'm sorry, BF4 all the way..you should try it again in more of its glory

GTA-V

Fallout series (Futuristic, but influenced by the post-war culture of 1950s America)

Star citizen (Futuristic, but it's open world model, well, maybe open galaxy is a better description, is unlike anything else out there.)

World of warships?

Metal gear solid V (It's "somewhat" of a FPS, but much more, encouraging non-lethal solutions)

Witcher 3 (C'mon, you've got a 980TI, you gotta play this game, just to see what can actually be DONE with a game, if for no other reason.)

Any of the Batman releases (Arkham knight, if they ever get it fixed, should be pretty sweet)

Why isn't anybody suggesting "Watch Dogs?" I can tell it's wonderful.
How about "Thief?"

@Darkbreeze
Metal Gear Solid is stealth-action? more like FPS or TPS (like Splinter Cell)?

Another question: Which "Metal Gear Solid" games have been released for Windows? Is this "Ground Zeroes" the first ever?

Watch dogs has a ton of optimization and code issues. Or did. There may have been patches recently that have helped to resolve some of the issues, but I gave up on it long ago.

Metal gear solid is more like splinter cell. It's worth playing. There are several incarnations.

I'm pretty sure ALL the versions have been released for PC at one point or another. I've only played phantom pain and guns/patriots. Both were worthwhile.

GTA V is always a solid choice, there's a ton you can do on it and it never really gets old. I especially love the Assassins Creed games, they are my favorite by far. The Arkham games that have been released so far are also really fun, the action is similar to Assassins Creed but adds different abilities, characters and of course the story is amazing. Dying Light is open world also, but it does have zombies so I don't know if you would like it as much. I enjoyed it, if that means anything to you :D
Age of Empires will always hold a special place in my heart, as does StarCraft. I also play League of Legends, not a monster game at all but fun if you like real time strategy.
https://www.g2a.com/r/ammoxslinger is a good site to go to for buying games, it uses Steam CD-keys and its often cheaper than anywhere else to buy games. Have fun trying out whichever games you choose!

g2a.com is anathema around here. I wouldn't trust them enough to buy a bucket of sand from. They don't screen their third party sales much if at all. There is a disproportionately high amount of illegal, questionable and just plain pirated software for sale there. Use at your own risk and don't say you weren't warned.

portal 2 is a very decent game as is portal. especially if you like quick puzzlers.
not exactly taxing on the gpu but still look decent.
your biggest problem is finding games that aint based in fantasy. but there are a few like the latest tombraider
farcry 3 and 4
project cars is a very decent racer and the latest dirt game is also worth a play through.
oh and just cause 2 should be on every sandbox players list.
