Slow Boot on SSD after Power Outage

So I was using my computer on a sunny day when a power outage suddenly occurred. Now being 18, I never invested money on a quality surge protector since I will be moving out soon and thought I wouldn't need it; however, after I tired booting up my computer afterwards, I noticed that it was taking longer than usual for the computer to boot up. The most irritating part is after the welcome screen, where there will be a black screen with only a mouse cursor for a good minute (which is abhorrently long when you have an SSD) before the desktop spontaneously appears. I tried launching in safe mode, which worked perfectly, and running chkdsk /f and sfc /scannow in cmd.exe (which only said that it could not be repaired). Now I have no idea what to do next. Any suggestions?

its possible that nothing's really wrong and you just need to have windows fix itself after a couple of rough starts... does it ever get into the desktop and function normally? if it does, you might want to pull the plug on it after desktop fully loads, then reboot and select "Start windows normally" at the boot options - see if that helps

It does function normally afterwards, but wouldn't pulling the plug potentially make the problem worse.

I've never seen or heard of that happening...

I would think about reinstalling Windows fresh... unless you have a ton of programs and games you'd have to reinstall

Yea, I do have a lot of programs and games. Do you think that upgrading to Windows 10 tomorrow will fix it (maybe rewrite the windows files)?

Alright, thanks for all the help! I'm going to see if there's a way to reinstall without deleting all my files, but if I have to, I just reinstall windows.
