External hard disk inaccessible

Hi. a few days ago, i had trouble with my external hard disk. it was working like usually previously. suddenly, when i open, it become NTFS file, cant be open. i tried all kinds of solutions to fix it, but none of the solutions are helpful. I have a lot of important files in the hard disk. Please help me fix this problem. thank you.

Hi there Verdacay,

I believe that it may be helpful if you can provide a screenshot of the error message. Also, it would be nice if you say what you've already tried. :)
- Have you tested the HDD? If you haven't you can do that: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
- Try attaching the HDD with different cables to a different system.
- Have you tried accessing the drive with some sort of data recovery software?
- You can try the Ubuntu Live CD approach as well. Just boot up Ubuntu from a CD or external drive and see whether you will be able to access the drive: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode
