Will a Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X OC work with my CPU and Motherboard?

Hey all!

Once again I need the assistance of the wonderful Tom's Hardware community! My current GPU, an XFX R7 250X is in need of replacement, and I'm looking at an R9 280 - specifically the Sapphire Dual-X version. It seems it would fit in my case and I'm certain it'll slot into the motherboard fine (I've never installed a GPU before so I'm a tad nervous), but I'm wondering if my computer can handle it because this card is overclocked by the manufacturer.

I don't want to fry the motherboard or destroy the CPU, so if anyone can reassure me that'd be great (preferably from experience). If I can't change the overclock settings or outright turn it off then I'd really appreciate it if you could guide me to a card of similar performance and size (Preferred dimensions: 27x14x6cm)! My specs are the following:

Motherboard: Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3
CPU: Amd FX 4300 (with stock AMD cooler; working on getting a better one after I get a new GPU)
PSU: Corsair 650W
RAM: 8GB, though I doubt that'll be affected by the GPU. Unless it sets fire.

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond! ^^

Like Wisecracker said, pull your old GPU by popping that clip down at the back of the slot to remove it. Then install the new one the same way, make sure the clip pops in. Even swapping AMD to AMD you should download the latest catalyst and uninstall catalyst before you remove your old one. Then shut down, remove the old card, install the new one and then re-install catalyst to ensure everything works smooth.

Dont worry a factory OC GPU won't harm anything in your PC.
