I have a dell inspiron 580s with a 250w power supply.....
I want to upgrade it to a higher power supply like 600w or 650w......
I know its not possible to fit it in the case.......But iam thinking of keeping it outside the box...All i want is a suitable PSU with minimum following connectors :
1 24-pin ATX mainboard power
1 4-pin ATX mainboard power
1 4-pin Berg Floppy
3 15-pin serial ATA (SATA) power

I know this is just hardly in budget, but this is a high quality power supply: tier 2

No, no power limit, it just won't feed it more pwer than it needs. When a power supply says 600w, it means that's the max it can run continuously. But if you only need 400w at the time it will give you 400w etc... If you give me your favorite website to shop from, I'll help you out even more and link it from there!

Almost all current PSU meet the needs you want. That PSU is OK as it is tier 3, think of them this way:

Tier 1) Great
Tier 2) Good
Tier 3) OK, maybe think about an upgrade
Tier 4) Don't buy. If you already have one, start researching
Tier 5) THROW OUT IMMEDIATELY!!! Before someone or something gets hurt!!
