Hi Guys,

I have a quick question and would need some advice for the same.
I have a couple of DELL laptops and a couple of DELL monitors. I would like to use them in the following configuration. Kindly let me know how the below can be achieved if at all possible :-

1. Laptop 1 uses Monitor 1. Laptop 2 uses Monitor 2
2. Laptop 1 uses Monitor 1 and 2. Laptop 2 only uses it's own screen.
3. Laptop 2 uses Monitor 1 and 2. Laptop 1 only uses it's own screen.

I know dual DVI KVM switch are available but I am not certain if they can assist in the same.

Thanks,
Nikhil Handa

Apologies for not clarifying the same earlier.

Laptop 1 is Dell E6400 which has 1 VGA port.
Laptop 2 is Dell E6430 which has 1 VGA port and 1 HDMI port.

My monitors are both the same - Dell 2214H. It has 1 VGA and 1 DVI port.

Thanks,
Nikhil Handa

There is no way for Laptop 1 to drive two independent monitors with a single output. You could use a splitter to have the same thing displayed on monitors 1 and 2 but it didn't sound like that is what you wanted.

What if I was to use a docking station from Dell or any other docking station for that matter?

I don't know. I don't know what ports a docking station has. But I don't think you will be EASILY able to do what you want. You would have to get dual VGA outputs from each laptop, then connect them to a 4x2 matrix switcher. That would require converting HDMI to VGA also. Is it possible, yes. Is it easy no.

Hi kanewolf,

Thanks for your reverts.
I am talking about Dell E port docking station which has dual dvi, dual DisplayPort and single VGA card. That should be plenty.

Assuming I have two of these connecting both to the laptops, can my configuration be achieved?
