What is the best CPU upgrade for my brothers old Pentium G2020?

His Windows 8.1 and Motherboard are linked from what i heard so that means i cant get a new motherboard for him without buying a new OS copy and i do not have the money for a new motherboard, CPU, and OS. So what socket is the G2020 and what will be a good CPU to replace it? I want to buy it off of ebay due to it being just the CPU. I want an i5 and nothing less. What are the list of i5 CPU that will fit in his motherboard since a G2020 fits and runs in it that should be enough info to figure it out but i cant.

Socket 1155. Any i5 will do. An i5 3570k if you want overclocking and have Z77 motherboards.

I believe the i7 3770k is the best you can get for LGA 1155 socket.

i5 3570k will be the best i5 you can get for LGA 1155.

He plays on a 1280x1080p monitor with a GTX 750Ti SC and it runs good but the CPU is at 100% even when on google lol it sucks but the GPU is perfect for even Ultra due to his low res monitor.

So what motherboard is it? It may have an BIOS to allow Ivy bridge cpu to run.

Idk man when i use speccy or any other program it says its an Asus, than Gigabyte, than Foxconn, and so on and it has no name on it. it is a pre built HP i upgraded for my brother. It does not even have a BIOS because its locked and HP said their BIOS is not ope to public and i can not access nor can i so i gave up.

If you cannot get a bios update for Ivy, the best 2nd gen options will be i5 2500k or i7 2700k.

Sorry, I was simply listing the best you can get. I was not taking into consideration whether you would be overclocking or not. That considered, there are non k versions of those CPUs. The i5 2400 would be considerably better than the g2020.

The G2020 is an Ivy Bridge based Pentium, so you can look at Ivy Bridge i5s or i7s.
