so i have a cooler master 500w PSU but it only has one 6 pin power connector. so i bought a 6 to 8 pin adapter, will the adapter be a sufficient solution? or will i have to buy a new power supply?

Solution
"A 6 pin PEG connector can deliver 75W of 12V power to the graphics card.
An 8 pin PEG connector can deliver 150W of 12V power to the graphics card."

I would not recommend the adapter at all as it will not increase power. Upgrade your psu.

The GTX 970 is a 145w card and you'd be giving it 75w.

Another question. I have 2x4 pin connectors that are plugged into my motherboard, if i switch those with the 6 to 8 pin adapter and use the 2x4 pins on my graphics card will that work?
