I currently have one Gigabyte g1 970. I would like to upgrade to sli because in the future I'm planning on playing above 1080p/60fps. Is micro stuttering still an issue with 2-way sli setups? Also, I am aware that sli does not scale 100%, but how much of a performance boost can I expect? Does the 3.5 gb vram limit the extent to which I can raise my graphical settings?

Speaking as a previous 970 sli user here, you will not notice any issues at 1080p/144hz with the 3.5 GB VRAM. only at 5760x1080/4k will you start to have issues. As for how well it scales, id say expect about 80% in popular games. Less at buggier/unsupported games. What resolution/fps are you looking to play at? you just say "above 1080p/60fps."

Sli 970s' should be fine for that. You may have to turn down a few settings to hit the 120fps number, but still the best bang for your buck. The 3.5 gb "issue" only comes into play with certain textures, think shadow of mordor, GTA V, and even then I dont think you'll have any issues at 1440p. As I said, my issues were at much higher restorations, and even then it was just frame rate dips, so I cant imagine any serious issues for 1440. As for screen tearing, just get a gsync monitor. Yes it's more expensive, but well worth it.

Sorry for the late response. You recomended a g-sync monitor. Of course, the ROG Swift comes to mind. But at 700 dollars, that might be too much to spring on :D Do you know of any other good 1440/120-140 monitors w/ g-sync? Thanks!

Sorry I haven't been on in awhile, no not really. there is a Acer, but I think it's actually more expensive. Interesting how the 4k Gsync monitors are actually cheaper then the 1440p. Granted they only do 60, but still.
