Those are some pretty nice laptops. The $1000 margin is a tricky one. I've noticed that you say "under $1000", but you haven't considered the tax on the prices yet. I only have one other laptop suggestion, based on the fact that it is more balanced in terms of performance. It is the ASUS K501LX-EB71. The 950M GPU is well balanced with the i7 5500U CPU and the deal includes a 256GB SSD. Yeah sure, it doesn't look as aesthetically pleasing as the others you fancy, but for the price/performance, you will be more or less on par with your previous selections, though at a much lower price tag of $799.
Mech HDD's don't belong in laptops anymore.
