problems with ram while running minecraft server

hi, i am running a modded minecraft server from my pc and whenever i have it running for a few hours it makes my ram useage go up, it gets to my full 8gb, also running the client, i can then shut everything down and it says im sitting at 60% at idle when i reboot it says 5-10%, it does this everytime, so im wondering what i have set wrong to have this happen
intel i7-4790k
8gb ram
gtx 960 4gb

instead of looking just at the % of used ram, go into resource monitor under the performance tab of task manager and see how much is being used and by what. also, you might want to note if you're running the pc just as a host or also playing on the same pc and if you have texture packs installed. minecraft vanilla is fairly light however gets heavy with lots of things installed.

when i look at the programs open its about 4-5gb being used when the % is at 99% and is making the minecraft client stutter. i have a ram leak somewhere its just finding it that is the problem
