I have just bought all the new parts for my PC (1st time builder) and I currently haven't got an OS for it. I'm going to buy a windows 7 ultimate product key and was wondering how I can activate this once my PC is built? It will arrive with no OS so is there a way I can activate the product key through the bios or make my USB bootable using the product key?

if you buy the key from microsoft or one of microsoft resalers..you then go to microsoft web page and you can for free download the windows iso that matches your product key. after the 4g in size iso is on your pc. use the free microsoft iso to usb tool to make a bootable usb stick. put the usb stick into usb 2.0 port on the new pc and set the bios to boot from usb. if you have an ssd/hard drive combo...unplug the hard drive data cable to make sure windows installer only sees the ssd. sometime if your not care full you can wipe or install windows on the wrong drive. having the other drive unpluged keeps the data safe. when the windows installer starts one of the windows will ask for your product key. after windows installs itself and you have all of the drivers go into windows system about the os and see that it registered. if it not the os will expire in 30 days.
