Hello guys,

My current machine is quite weak for gaming&streaming;
- i3 2100 @ 3.1ghz
- HD Radeon 6870
- 8gb of ram
- PSU; EarthWatts 500d
- 2.5 mbps upload

I'm looking at upgrade options now, buying some second hand parts. now.. I can upgrade the following;

- i3 2100 cpu --> i7 2600 (not -K)
- HD Radeon 6870 --> Gigabyte GTX 770 2gb
- I intend to upgrade for 5mbps upload as well.

both second hand. the cpu is for like 130$ and gpu for 160$ (new cost 2x this price in Israel)

I got another offer from the guy who's selling the CPU;
i7 2600 + asus strics gtx 970 for approx 400$ - Do I need the gtx970 for my goals ?

* I'm a bit afraid to buy a very expensive (for me) second hand GPU like gtx970.

For what Purpose ?

I intend to stream mainly Dota2 and World Of Tanks playing 1080p and streaming for 720p

I can play both games fine today, WoT with low settings to get okay fps. But if I stream, everything lags, fps drops immensely. my bet is that the CPU can't handle WoT and OBS obviously.

Anyways, I want to stream WoT with high/max settings, and WoT is single-core CPU dependent, I wonder if this CPU is good enough to run this CPU dependent game and stream.

What do you think guys ?
a) Do I really need the GTX 970 ? or save this money for future upgrade or get SSD....
b) Should I get 770/970 alone and wait to upgrade my MotherBoard and CPU for 4th generation with OC capability

How is the shadowplay favorable over the classic OBS ?

I've been thinking about that .. if I don't play much games besides WoT and Dota2 - is there a point getting an expensive GPU in expense of CPU ?
Because 770 should be able to handle TOP settings in both games in 1920x1080 res, right ?

However, a weak CPU might not handle the streaming load and especially in World of tanks, right ?

Yes that is right. That is why I suggested to get the 770 as most games use the gpu and as the gtx 770 can play and stream dota 2 at decent settings you only have to care about getting a decent cpu so that it doesn't bottleneck it.

Otherwise you will need a good cpu for the streaming and a decent gpu to play the game.

Yo, I have an offer to get an almost new Asus GTX 960 Directcu II with 4gb ram in 80$ more than the 770gtx, worth it ?

- The reason it makes me reconsider is that; 9xx series new tech, new features blahblah.. AND it's less wattage consumption. I only have a 500w earthwatts and I will not have to worry about upgrading with the 960gtx right, although people say that it will handle the 770gtx just fine as well...

Thoughts ?
