there are reference 980ti's for £500 or so but a decent 980ti is £550 -£600. should I get the titan x for £650?

Hi, both cards are very close in performance . The only better thing about the Titan X is that it has more VRAM than the 980ti. But i would recommend just going with the 980ti, there isnt much performance gain at all from the titan X.

There is no noticeable performance gain for the Titan X unless you play at 4K resolution.

Personally I would save my money and get the GTX 980 Ti.

Factory overclocked 980 Ti cards are faster than Titan X. The only benefit Titan X has is the VRAM which is useful for rendering or running Sli for 4K gaming. Otherwise the 980 Ti is a better choice.

GPUBoss is useless.

Nothing wrong with Reference 980 Ti tbh, not sure I would spend an extra £50-100 on a different air cooler for it.

I have the EVGA GTX 980 Ti SC ACX 2.0 reviewed above by techpowerup. It was $20 more than a reference card. Are UK prices that crazy?

Edit: No it was $30 more than reference but it has a backplate.

Does seem to be. The reference cards are well priced at £500, but the EVGA ACX 2.0 version is £590

I paid $679 directly from EVGA as they were the only ones that had them in stock when I bought it. That's 437.17 pounds by today's exchange rates. Reference cards are $649.

It's partially the included VAT you guys pay. If I bought locally there would have been a 6% state sales tax on the sale but I can avoid that on some stuff by ordering online.

Things are more over there though. I was there in 94 and I remember thinking how expensive everything was. Especially food.
