Ok, so recently I purchased a Ocz arc100 240gb ssd and I wish to put my os (win 8) on it to improve speed and such. I currently have a wd blue 1tb hdd that has the os on it. I used the software EaseUS Todo Backup Free 8.5 to clone the hdd to the ssd but for some reason it won't let me boot off of the ssd. When ever I try it sends me to bios.

Please help, Thanks.

By two partitions do you mean system reserved and C: drive? I tried it while copying one at a time and also copying both.

In bios I change my boot option #1 to hdd then disable boot option #1 so it will default boot to sdd and it just takes me to the bios...

If I use the boot menu to try to boot off of the ssd it just boots off of the hdd

Have you deleted the appropriate partition on the HDD?

Don't do it yet, but I've a feeling that there are two identically named instances of windows. With the SSD in, can you download a program called BSDedit. that might enable you to be more specific about which version you want to boot. I've played with it once to solve a similar problem. Can't help you more than that but it should point on the right track. Shout if that doesn't help and I'll find someone to jump on and help out. DO NOT delete the old partition until you've got it working (obviously)

Turns out I can boot off of my ssd but the partitions are sized incorrectly and I can't resize them to the way I want.

Is there anyway to completely clear a boot drive so nothing is on it (not even windows) because I want to reclone the hdd to ssd and resize the partitions the correct way.

Patience, we don't actually work here, we have real lives.

When you do the cloning you'll be able to just clone 'on top of' the SSD and it'll wipe everything that is on it.

Be very very careful about where you are cloning to and from.

Disk management in windows should be able to extend partitions.

I already cloned it, then wanted to reclone because when I booted it I saw that the partition sizes were wrong. I wanted to separate a partition and add it to a different one and Disk Management doesn't support that.

Now I can't clone it because it is a boot drive and it doesn't show up when I boot off of my hdd
