Hello dear members of the tom.

Recently I've set out to build a computer for my little minecrafter brother, hoping he will take some interest.

I bought a cheap secondhand PC with the following specifications:

Core2Quad Q8300 @2.5GHz
Gigabyte GA-G41MT-ES2L
2GB Dynet DDR3 1333MHz (DMT125U6BFR8C-H9) (Single Chip)
1TB Seagate 7200RPM
650W Power Supply
I added a freebie HD3870.

I decided to up the RAM to 4GB seeing that it seems supported by the motherboard documentation. I bought a 2GB Kingston ValueRam PC3-10600 DIMM.

When I boot the PC with the Dynet RAM in either of the two slots it works fine, however when I try to boot the PC with only the Kingston RAM it wont post (instead it starts and reboots). I tested the Kingston DIMM in another PC and it works fine.

If I run the PC with both of the RAM chips installed the bios reports 2GB Ram and Windows 7/8.1 reports 4GB with 2GB useable.

I tried upping the voltages to 1.7V, resetting the CMOS and updating to the newest bios. There doesn't seem to be any option for memory remapping on the award bios.

Any help will be gladly appreciated!

Which Kingston value DRAM - the model # ? If this is one of their new sticks it probably is made with high density 4Gb memory chips which aren't compatible with the mobo. To confirm you could PM the Kingston rep here on the forums - send PM to KingstonHQ (that's their screen name) ;)
