so i was looking to get a new modem, but i have no idea what im looking for. i live in australia (yes we have the worst internet in the world) and im running adsl2+ from dodo. so atm i have some crappy belkin modem for 3 years and looking to buy a way better one for like streaming and gaming for around $100-$300 aud, i have aboslute no idea what im looking for.

also im my entire house uses wireless so ethernet isnt a real big issue, unless someone knows how i can get ethernet into my room without the long cable( i heard about some powerpoint adapter but i have no idea what it is). i dont really get good connection through wifi since it is across the house.

if you need anymore information just ask.

thanks to anyone who can help!

The problem is that if the connection to your house is crappy, no modem is going to make it any better or faster. What speeds in terms of upload/download are you paying for? Then go to speedtest.net and check your speeds and see how close they are.

As for distrubuting it around your house, you would need a router. A good one with good wifi will help your connection, but ethernet is always the best. Nothing beats it. Powerline is spotty and relies on you having really good wiring in your house. Wifi is also dodgy as walls and stuff affect it.
