Ok so lets start by describing my situation. I currently have a bad computer (cant run the games i want) and want to get a new one in the upcoming month or two, but right now i have run out of storage space. I bought a 1 terabyte hard drive that i want to transfer over to my new computer, but i want to have windows 10 downloaded to it, and all my steam games with their save files. My problem is 1. im not sure how to only transfer over the OS and the steam games, and 2. how i would set my computer up so that it would boot from the larger hard drive, but still use the drivers for this computer from the other hard drive. If you know of an easy way to transfer over the drivers to the new hard drive and delete them once i get a new computer, that would be helpful as well.

Solution
1. You can't transfer only the OS and some games. All or nothing.
2. You can migrate your current data to the new 1TB drive. There are several applications that will do this.
3. In your NEW system, you'll have to do a full reinstall of the OS. Trying to use that same drive with the original OS will probably result in tears.

Disregard the Windows 10 aspect until you get the new system built. You have until July 2016 to do that upgrade.

So are you suggesting that when i get a new computer i should buy another OS and just leave the old one on the old HD?

If you want both PC's to have an OS, that is what you will have to do. 1 license, 1 PC.

If you currently have a Retail Windows 7 or 8 license, you can install that on the new PC, and upgrade to Win 10.
If you currently have an OEM license, that is tied to whatever motherboard it is with now. You'll need a new OS for the new PC anyway.

In either case, do not upgrade to Win 10 until after the new system is built.

Basically, locate and copy your steamapps folder. Move that to the new system.
Or, simply download them again on the new system.

Do you want to use the other hard drive right now or are you saving it for a new pc?

Then I would use it for now, wipe it when you get a new PC, and use it in your second PC as the primary drive, and reinstall games.
You will most likely have to buy a new copy of windows for the new hard drive however if you want it for your primary drive.
