Built a new PC, but monitor displaying 'no signal'

I've just built my own PC, everything turns on but I can't get signal to my monitor

These are the specs:
Motherboard- MSI z97 gaming 5
CPU - i7 -4790k
PSU - corsair rm760
Graphics Card - gtx 970
RAM - g skill ripjaw 4gb x 2

All the fans begin to spin as soon as I turn it on and the motherboard light also turn on.

I've tried taking the ram and graphics card out but still nothing.

I've also took everything out and reinstalled but still nothing

make sure you are connecting the monitor to the graphics card not the integrated graphics

and make sure the 8 pin is connected to the motherboard and 8/6 pin to the graphics card

Does it beep if you've connected a speaker? One reason it may not go is the BIOS on it doesnt support that CPU without a BIOS update

@mcnumty23, I've double checked the wiring and I have connected the correct cables.

I haven't got the correct cable to connect my monitor to the graphics card to I'll have to pick one up and I'll get back to you

@Paul NZ, I don't have a speaker for the motherboard so I can't hear anything

I'm not sure what you mean by beep but when I turn it on theres a light sort of 'click' noise

you either need to connect to the graphics card or remove the graphics card and see if the integrated gives a signal

I've just took my graphics card out and it actually turned on, how come this works ?
