4 GB only using 2 GB

Runnning Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, AM370DE ASRock MB. Bios shows 2046 MB in the post, but in bios setup shows 4096 MB in two sticks. Windows Control Panel - System shows 4GB, 2GB useable. No obvious memory hardware assignments in the bios (no onboard graphics).

Is the DRAM a mathed set (from a single package), if not they may not want to play together

Yes they are, but I pulled them out of the computer this morning, and they are 1 GB sticks, which explains why the system is showing only 2 GB used, but not why bios setup is showing 4 GB. Very peculiar, but the important thing is that I need to buy more RAM.

I'm gonna buy 4 GB to add to the 2. I'll be interesting to see if it then says I have 12 GB with 6 available, lol!

And then pray a bit.

It's generally a 50/50 thing, if you try and have problems, give me a shout and we can try voltage/timing adjustments
