I was thinking about getting this RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104516

But I am unsure if this will work with my DELL (yes I know didn't have the choice about getting it) Inspiron 3847. I am currently in the process of getting parts for a new custom built PC but I was wondering if I would be able to put those 2 sticks of RAM into my current PC because my current RAM seems to not be able to compete.

I could not find a parts list for my actual PC, I do have a Dell Inspiron 3847 but I have a i5-4440 CPU

Your computer won't "break". It will simply fail to post and will likely give you beep codes. Simply put your old RAM back in if it won't boot, or reset the CMOS and try again with the other RAM, and then if it still doesn't work, swap the old RAM back in.
As stated, most if not all OEM units like that Dell machine, come with a locked bios that has very few configurable settings. Prebuilt system manufacturers don't like to have you in the BIOS changing settings for the most part so it's doubtful you can configure RAM that's faster than 1600mhz.

It will either work, at one speed or another, automatically, or it won't.

If it doesn't work what can I expect it to happen? I don't want my computer to break or something if it does turn out to not work XD. I don't mind what the speed is currently since I am still using a terrible Dell with a PSU and a GPU I installed.

Sorry for being such a PC noob XD this is my first time building my PC. Also I wanted to say thanks for all the help you guys are willing to provide :D
