Exactly what the Title states, I really don't wanna have a HUGE risk of getting a motherboard just to get a dud, what would be the safest place to buy it from?
if it sold at micro center or alrge computer store near you first. micro center has a great return policy. next would be newegg and tiger direct. amazon not bad if your buying from a known good seller. the problem with computer parts now is they dont burn them in like they did a few years ago. they ship whole containers of mb and a few of them are doe units. i gotten doa monitor from best buy before a few years ago. yes it a pain to rebox and return doa items but they do happen.

Thank you, personally i've been slowly straying from the Maximus VII, i've seen ALOT of DOA and RMA for it, so if I ultimately can't find a better one i'll go with it, but not without a bit of prejudice intact, but i've had my eyes on the Asus Z97-A it looks like a great motherboard with a slight less amount of features, but about roughly the same in performance.
if this is a new build and you have a local micro center the newer ar is 110.00 this month with cpu combo. for a little more money there the sabertooth mark 2 without the cpu shield. if you dont have the cpu yet i would hold off and wait for skylake and skylake mb.
