So I have an laptop (HP 6735s), which is sluggish as all hell.So I figured if I switch it to High Performance mode I'll get better performance. The problem is it overheat the second you switch it on.Like 20-30 Degrees overheating. It goes from 40 idle to 70 idle.WHAT THE HELL.It causes a crash aswell.

If you have it for a long time and have never cleaned it, the cooler is probably clogged up with dust. If you have experience in opening up laptops, you can do it yourself. If you have never done it, you should give it to a technician.

Laptops constantly draw in dust from the fan intake. Over time, that dusts sits between the fan and the exhaust (where the main body of the heatsink is). Air no longer goes to the heatsink and you get overheating.

You can also try to blow the dust away with a compressed air spray. Do that with the laptop turned off, blowing through the exhaust as well as the intake. You might see pieces of fluff flying out. Be careful of condensation from the spray (don't spray extremely close to the chassis).

I've probably done that 7 times before. As you may guess, to no avail.Maybe I pushed the dust deeper inside and it's blocking ports.

then your best option is to open it. Again, if you don't know how dont risk it. Each laptop has a different way to disassemble and doing it wrong risks breaking stuff. When I open a laptop for cleaning I also replace the thermal paste on the CPU (other components usually have pads). In many cases, I have found that the paste that came with the laptop has completely dried out and is not functioning as it should.

Afer I move out of my house and this laptop becomes mine (Because my sister is getting a new lapop and this one is staying with me) I am going to deep clean the crap out of the insides. But as much as I whould like to replace the Thermal Paste I need to remove the screen, plate, case UGH.I can't replace it.

" AMD produces a lot of heat" NO CRAP.This sucker feels like 46 Degrees on my nutsack. But I don't hink the fan is broken since i can hear it.I was suprised that the fan ramped up to 100% when it reached 75 Degeres on hottest core.So fan not broken.
