So basically automatic repair always fails, so I can't really use that. I get to the blue screen menu thing and it tells me that srttrail.txt tells me what went wrong. So I opened this with the command prompt and it says that pdc.sys is corrupt. I've tried everything I really can in the blue menu, I also can't get the computer to run in safe mode. The only option that I can see being left is reinstalling windows but since it came preinstalled on my computer I don't have a clue where the product key would be. So it seems like the only option is to fork out money for windows if I can't find a solution to pdc.sys being corrupt. Any ideas at all?

As Akr706 says, you don't have to worry about activation.

But the "stuck in automatic repair loop" is the problem, I fought against this issue for 2 months, windows image backup and system restore can't resolve the issue and I am forced to clean install, I did it. But mine was Desktop, not preinstalled, I have to enter the product key again.

For your case, if it is laptop, there should be some where a key to press to factory reset the laptop as it was new. if not, do a clean install and the activation is no worry, it will automatically activate it as long as you install the same version of windows with the same bit.

If the windows 8 came preinstalled with your computer and the key is embedded in your BIOS, then you can do a clean install using the default key and it will activate automatically.
