Hi.

I have Windows 7 and my laptop started cutting out from the wifi (on and off), and now it won't connect at all. Other devices in the house connect to the wifi without any problems.

Now when I choose Troubleshoot problems I get "Investigate router or access point issues with a list of 1. unplug device, 2. wait 10 secs, 3. turn back on. This makes no difference.

A previous error message I was getting was "Windows can't find the hidden network" - or something to that effect. I have checked the wifi adapters ... don't know why I have two of them.

Now, when I go to Network and Sharing Centre I have a red cross between the Computer and the Internet.

Need someone to step through bit by bit why this isn't working ...

Thanks,
Jackie

Well usually you will have two or more adapters in your pc. One for wireless and one for wired (LAN). Your information is a little vague in what the exact message is or what you've tried.

It could be your adapter driver is out of date and thats why its not recognizing the existing network. You should check to make sure your wireless adapter has the latest driver. Don't depend on Windows update to do it. Go to the adapter's manufacturer website and look it up manually and update if necessary. Check your settings. Look in the event viewer to see if you can locate the problem there - use the microsoft help forums and the windows seven forums as well

Make sure your pc is in your home network.

Have you tried connecting directly to the modem using the cable from it and plugging it directly into your pc? or use an ethernet cable if you have one. You can troubleshoot your adapter from there..

If all else fails contact the ISP for support.

If you find that you are unable to connect to a network than you may have an issue with your network profile. You can find out the tutorial to learn how to delete the troublesome profile and get connected.
