Very soon i'll be purchasing a new secondary HDD and noise levels are important to me, in the year i have had my pc built i have tried a 1TB Seagate Barracuda which was basically silent except it made the odd random chirp noise, which annoyed me so i replaced it with a 1TB WD Green Drive, this makes more noise when i actually access the drive, it's fine but it's a slower drive and i figured if it makes noise i may as well see if i can find a faster drive that at worst is the same level of noise.
Correct me if i'm wrong there's not a lot of options when it comes to HDD's, the noise difference between them all will never been that huge so i was thinking of just buying a good fast HDD and trying to make it silent, does anyone have any recommendations for what i can do to achieve that? Right now my drive is mounted on the floor of my case, which i'm sure doesn't help.
