Hello guys,

I have recently upgraded my APU from an A6 6400 to an A10 7850k and now I get a weird crash in one of the games I play (Smite).

The best way I can describe it is that the screen goes pixely (horizontal lines with either green or red pixel) and freezes. Can't do anything with the computer, and have to turn it off manually.

It doesn't happen when i'm in the game itself, but rather on the character select screen, or the match loading screen.

I have upgraded all the drivers, contacted the game's company, ran the game in safe mode, reinstalled the game, nothing is working. So i'm guessing it might have something to do with the hardware itself - maybe - as this problem never happened when i was using the A6 6400.

One of my friends said it might be a problem with graphics, but I am only using the APU since I don't have a designated GPU, and it was fine with the A6.

So then, i'm thinking that it might be down the processor needing more power and that's what makes it go crazy and freeze. But i really don't have an idea of how to figure out why it's happening and how to solve it.

I'll give you my spec and maybe you can see what is wrong, or shed some light on the problem.

Processor : A10 7850k
Ram : 8g DDR3 1666
MOBO : Gigabyte F2A55m-DS2 socket FM2+
Power supply : CX430 Corsair

PS: I have some pictures I have taken but can't figure out how to show them, as its asking for a url and haven't uploaded them online.

Any help would be brilliant,
Thank you.

Solution
Put some stress on the gpu:

Also make sure to monitor your temps, use AMD overdrive for that.

Hi all,

This could be a late response to this particular issue but I would like to add that I too have an AMD A10 7850k - I ditched my Intel Core2Duo E8400 and motherboard and decided to go for an AMD A10 upgrade.. Following that, crashes slapped me and I was beginning to regret my upgrade until now.. You can read the whole detailed solution here from my blog ... http://the-tip-cabinet.blogspot.com/2016/02/how-to-run-games-on-amd-a10-7850k.html

Really hope it helps!
