Hi guys!

I am building a gaming rig for around £650 and have been choosing components. I just wanted to hear everyones opinion of my component choices with potential changes.

Just want to mention I already own a 1TB HHD and a cooler master 550w psu. Also I dont really want an SSD as I believe its a bit of a hassle to setup.

it's 10 times faster at random read and writes, which happen all the time in your computer. Once you use an SSD for your OS, HDD will feel unbearably slow. There is no point of getting high end parts like you do and sticking a tortoise for storage that will bog everything else down.

if you want the best SSD, get Samsung 850 Pro either 128GB or 250GB and use HDD as your main storage. Another good SSD is Crucial MX100 or BX200.

For video card, consider AMD R9 390; it's has 8GB VRAM vs GTX 970 (which only has 3.5GB) and they same similar performance

The components are definitely okay and I would look into a Samsung EVO SSD!
