HELP Computer stopped working - white boxes/lines on screen

So my computer randomly dismayed white boxes on the screen and the display went off. On restart it shows white tear lines and won't boot. Last restart took me to windows did not load correctly still with white lines across the display. I assume this is either GPU or the windows instal that is broken.

I5 3570k
GTX 580
Windows 8

If you need more info please ask and any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

take out 580 and boot off of your Intel IGP, does it work?

Removing the card results in it booting fine. Any chance the card is salvageable?

^try cleaning 580 with an air blower and then try to reseat it again into your pc; if that doesn't work, if you can, try using it in a different PC. If still no go, time for a new GPU or just use your Intel IGP, it works fine for everything but games.

I need the computer for auto cad, revit and photoshop I doubt the IGP can handle that? Thanks for all the help.

hm, of then try cleaning it; you can always buy another GPU; if you are on a budget, used gpus are pretty cheap
