The 380 is a slightly better card.

There is no catch.

And don't bet on that starchief. NVIDIA kills older architectures with driver updates. If anything, the 380 will be better positions in the future than it is now.

The catch is Nvidia can charge whatever the hell they want because they are financially stable, meanwhile AMD is in shambles. The 4g GTX 960 and 380 trade blows in tests, the r9 380 is slightly better, but GTX 960 will have better future support.

It has nothing to do with hardware or drivers, AMD hasn't been doing real well lately. Nvidia being the better established company will have better support in the future, unless AMD manages to create and sell some groundbreaking technology. Like they tried with the Fury X and failed. They need another Fury X, one that'll actually do what they said it would do.

That support is called drivers. And since AMD doesn't have any major debt due until after the 380 will have been replaced by the user, there is no argument that AMD wont be able to support it during its lifetime.

Also, Fury was groundbreaking - it was the introduction of the new memory all enthusiast cards will use, regardless of whether the initial release was more powerful than the best GDDR 5 card ever made. Considering its sold out status, it wouldn't matter if it had those extra couple % in performance anyway - they already sell out the same day they get restocked.

Thanks guys, off your answers I did some research and though people are claiming AMD has bad support and cards run slower on the games I want to play, I may still get the R9 380. Remaining issue is that card in particular has no reviews so im not sure what the deal with it is.
