Computer Restarts during gaming (presumably due to overheating CPU)

Hi all,

I build a computer about a week ago and when I play dirty bomb, it will randomly restart after about 30 minutes of gaming. My CPU seems to be running hot (it can reach 90C) but it's not overclocked and it's using the stock fan. I know I could buy a new CPU cooler, but I feel like the one that comes with it should be sufficient for a non-intensive game like dirty bomb. The only thing I can think are that the GPU or PSU are not functioning right. I haven't seen the GPU get above 65c, but it could be higher when I'm in the middle of a game before it restarts. My build details are below:

Intel i7 4790k
MSI GTX 970 GPU (Open Box)
Corsair HX850 PSU (Factory Refurbished)
Samsung Evo 250gb SSD
Seagate 3tb HDD
Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK MoBo
Corsair 750D Case
Samsung DVD drive

Clearly 850 watts should be enough to power the computer under load (the fan rarely needs to come on even) and the case stays really cold. It's sitting on a concrete floor in a basement that's kept around 68 degrees Fahrenheit all day. It even overheats with the side of the case off. Currently my temps (at idle) are CPU: 26,29,27,28C for each core, and the GPU is at 39C (and steady). Is it possible my mobo is putting too much voltage to the CPU? The only other thing I could think would maybe be north/southbridge but I don't know what the tolerances are.

I'm about to lose my mind here, so please let me know if you have any suggestions or things I could try!

According to that, your CPU core temps are maxing out at 90C to 100C. Yes, that is dangerously high. Better check that your CPU cooler is properly installed. Look behind the motherboard to see if all 4 push pin posts are spreading their white fingers properly behind the board.

I took the back off and all the pins are fully inserted with the white fingers spread and the black pin about the same depth in.
