I'm looking at passmark high end cpu benchmark. Are cpu's ranked based on score? My processor is just right under the i5-4690k.. and I don't believe it can actually perform as good as it. D:

It's a synthetic benchmark, the values can be different from real world programs. It tries to assign a points ranking based on a testing load that doesn't quite equal real world situations. The best way to compare cpus is to look at application benchmarks for whatever games or programs you run where multiple cpus are compared to one another. Outside of passmark, no one uses a program called passmark. If gaming, it depends on the games. Say you play gta v but you don't play battlefield 4 - then it would help to look up cpu benchmarks for gta v. If it was video editing and you use handbrake, then look up handbrake cpu benchmarks.

Just keep in mind in the real world programs they all perform a bit differently. You won't get a very accurate result checking one game benchmark and deciding thats your cpus gaming performance. If video editing, a handbrake benchmark won't be very useful if you use premiere pro or sony vegas.
