Using the software

Smart Recovery 2, It first asked me what drive to make the image from, i selected my C drive, It's a Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB.

Next it asks for you to where you wanted to place the image for safe keeping, I selected a internal 3 TB HDD, 2.78TB in Windows.

Once it was done making the image i was looking at the file it made and it was 1 TB in size, I'm trying to find out why the image would be this big with my main hard drive is only 250 GB? Why would it be 4 times the size ?

Hey there, Popa2caps!

This is most probably because Windows 7 includes all your Windows Restore points, page files, hibernation files, temp files, etc. including the empty space and accounts. I'd suggest you to go through this article about backup management in Windows 7: http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2009/11/23/managing-backup-disk-space.aspx

You could also use third-party software tools to backup and image your system. Here you can find some suggestions from the TH community: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/pictures-story/431-freeware-backup-programs-applications-data-recovery.html

However, keep in mind that having an image of your primary drive to your secondary HDD in the system is not really a backup solution. I'd...

Good luck! Hope I was helpful! :)
